What is your preferred raiding spec? Please describe your Talent Point choices in detail. What glyphs do you use and why?
Spec is standard. Ele only has 2 non dps improving flex points on 90% of boss fights, and a select few more on a boss to boss basis, ie ancestral swiftness on ultrax, earthquake on any fight thats not yor. Due to running unleashed on almost ds encounters and losing no cast time outside of shocks, ancestral resolve provides the largest amount of damage taken reduction. Also is a better boon over elemental warding due to it providing a flat reduc, rather than only magic.
The only real variant is a fire ele spec: http://www.wowhead.com/talent#hhGrGofkzGZboZbhb:m0c Utilizes a lot of on proc trinkets and lining up as much sp as possible and ensuring that the fire ele dishes out a metric assload of damage throughout a 7m+ fight. Was more valid with 2p t12 on fights like ultrax, but I haven't seen anything really warranting it, outside of that.
As far as glyphs go, I carry around a 20 stack of dust due to how varying the encounters are for elemental. Flame shock is standard and never gets dropped. The other 2 slots typically alternate between:
Lava burst - Whenever I don't need fire ele and / or unleashed. Even more of a boon that it interacts with mastery procs
Fire ele - Used on 7m+ fights or on learning progression to ensure a fire ele every attempt
Unleashed lightning - Very mobile fights you can't justify not having this. With such a low requirement to be a dps boon, ds was tailored to it
Lightning bolt - Only really use it on ultraxxion
As a footnote, CL is unglyphed for hagara and blackhorn. On yor it is required
Please describe your rotation/priority list in detail. Tanks: What is your rotation for maximum threat? When do you consider using your cool downs? Healers: What abilities do you use when you're tank healing? Raid healing? When do you use your cool downs?
Short simple version: Int > hit till cap > haste = mastery > crit
Prior to 4.3, int was around 2:1 haste / mastery. Post 4.3 around 3:1.
With the way haste, mastery, and DTR interact, as well as 2 and 4p, haste has taken a slight hit in importance at my levels, and mastery has risen. This also is affected by / impacts the 2 and 4p t13 and more so the uptime on the 4p. As I sit right now, I'd like to further drop my haste by ~100-150 and put that into mastery. Along the way to bis, I will be able to maintain this ~700 margin between haste and mastery quite effectively. Gems in boots and pants in bis are not int haste as well provided yor drops useful loot for a change.
As mentioned above, I'd be interested in how a build with 35-40% crit against a debuffed boss would perform, but for now, it's our least desired stat due to lvb guaranteed crits.
Rotation: Fire tot, fls, lvb, fulm, lb
Obvious variants include fire ele when able to maximize its' sp, ensure it will have full uptime, and full time on target. Likewise, prioritizing fulm charges over fls refresh / application on a target that won't be alive through the duration or damageable ( hag ). Another obvious variant would be using CL over lb on multiple targets, and EQ on 5+ stationary adds. EM is prioritized differently on different fights. The general rule of thumb is to ensure it will see full uptime and maximum damage. While putting our casts under the gcd, EM should also be lined up with heroism. On yor, I have and use it on pretty much every set of adds; on hag after each phase transition; etc. For a more involved fight, ultrax becomes a more on the fly decision with EM, with having to use it after fading has been applied so it's not cut short, as well as ensuring you either have enough time prior to hour, or saving it until after, while also ensuring you don't sit on EM the entire encounter waiting for the perfect line up. Having to refresh a fls during EM proves to be a dps boost, however forcing it proves to be a loss.
Fulmination's rules are to use it at as many stacks as possible without wasting charges, as well as without clipping fls.
What are your primary professions? Are they maxed? Why did you choose these professions?
Tailor / chanter both maxed. 580 sp proc lining up for fire ele and static 80 int is nice.
Do you have Ventrilo?
How did you hear about us? Do you have any references within the guild?
Recruitment forums, no
What were your previous guilds and why did you leave? (Be specific):
Current: Sparda of gilneas officer / raid leader. I'm east coast and for the past 4-5? years I've been working second shift and have been raiding late night. A change in job and shift last month has made raiding at these hours simply brutal. I can no longer raid from 12:30-3 a.m. and force myself to wake up at 6 a.m. while trying to catch naps when I get off work when I can. I can't really shift my schedule to be like a third shift deal either, so need to be looking elsewhere. Can't keep waking up and having no clue what day or time it is when I didn't drink the night before haha.
Prior, kills, time, expansions:
Sparda Gilneas ~2 years?:
Cata ( All 10m ) - 5/8 H DS with p2 boat attempts, 7/7 H FL pre 4.3, 6/7 H pre major fl nerf, 11/13 H( I want to say 12/13 H pre fl but I honestly don't remember )
LK ( All 25m, raided on my hunter ) - 11/12 H ICC with p3 attempts, 12/12 H ICC and 1/1 H RS on 10m
Moved to Sparda from Cursed with Awesome (11/12 H ICC.) I left cursed due to general lack of progression and the fact that I moved there to raid with friends of mine from bc that after some time no longer raided.
CWA Crushridge ~1 year?:
LK ( All 25m ) - 11/12 H ICC with p2 attempts
Moved to CWA from Nightshift ( 10/12 H ICC.) I left Nightshift due to increased work hours. I was no longer able to get home from work in time for raids without missing a handful of hours throughout the week.
Nightshift of Dawnbringer & Thrall officer / raid leader ~3 years?:
LK ( All 25m ) - 10/12 H ICC with p2 sindy, 4/5 H TOC with p2 progress, Y0 uld, all naxx and maly kills with assorted achieves
Prior to LK I did more casual raiding than anything. BT up to bloodboil, and hyjal up to arch.
What is your current and previous raid experience? Please include prior characters, and be specific (ex. 15/15 Naxx, Sarth +3, ICC25 11/12 HM):
How did/do you learn about your class mechanics? Do you remain updated on changes?
Totemspot, EJ, wol digging and armory. You really can't be successful without seeing what other people are doing, as well as experimenting yourself. Same goes for staying up to date, you just fall behind if you're lazy about it.
Please post a picture of your User Interface using the following website, www.imgur.com with all relevant keybindings shown. If your UI does not convey all of your important keybindings, elaborate Please list your major mods (DBM, Big Wigs, etc).
Aside from a few convenience addons, the bulk of my ui is a necessity to raid at a high level. Pitbull, bartender, power auras, omnicc, bigwigs, quartz, tidyplates, totemtimers, grid, forte exorcist. If I had to slim it down to bare essentials, I could make due with a portion of them, and build most of the effects in power auras. Along these lines, patch day is typically a headache, but is not a limitation on raiding availability.
What is your availability? Are you able to make all raid days and times? (Mon-Thurs, 7:30p-11:30p CST)
Lines up fine for me, my availability for the past 2 expacs has pretty much always been 90-95%
I would like to inquire as to how strict you are on running past raid time?
How old are you? Do you consider yourself mature?
24 and yes. I simply don't have the time or inclination to care about half the crap that causes qq or drama. Loot woes and drama are just ridiculous.
Tell us about yourself (job, school, lifestyle, etc):
Steady 40 hour job, no school right now, lot of gaming and going out with friends. Cheap as a jew and easy going to be short and sweet about it.
What do you expect from us?
Solid dependable progression in a drama free environment. I expect every member in a raid group to pull their own weight. Low downtime and a quality over quantity approach to raiding. To elaborate, more solid attempts rather than a zerg the hell out of it mentality.
Why do we want you?
Dependable, solid player that you notice is in your raid and is a driving force behind boss kills. In every guild I've been in, I've been a key player to progression. I rarely make mistakes and am even rarer to repeat them. I show up knowing what to do and expect, as well as what is expected of me. Very analytical and always looking to individually improve.
Nothing pressing. I'm a dedicated raider who aims to kill difficult bosses. I'm not interested in worrying about loot or drama. I would be interested in discussing my application and your guild in game when someone has a chance sometime. Thanks for the read and please, ask away.
